DragonFire Magnetic Cupping helps to relieve pain and inflammation from injury or chronic conditions including relief from deep muscular issues and reduction in muscle spasms. It also helps release and soften scar tissue and loosen post-surgery adhesions. It helps lift and stretch soft tissue to separate fascia and restrictions, and can increase the range of movement and flexibility in joints.

By cupping, you'll be promoting healthy circulation and opening the energy flow of the body, moving stagnation and enabling the normal lymphatic flow. Cupping will also enhance any athletic training program to improve performance. The longer the session, the better the results.

Clients from Bartlett, Collierville, Germantown, Lakeland, Millington, Cordova, and communities in DeSoto County, MS make the trip to our Arlington spa for cupping — a powerful therapy that few spas in the greater Memphis area offer with this level of expertise.

What Is DragonFire Magnetic Cupping?

Cupping therapy is one of the oldest forms of medicine in the world, with roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, ancient Egyptian healing traditions, and Middle Eastern medical practice dating back over 3,000 years. At Living Health Day Spa, we practice DragonFire™ Magnetic Cupping — a contemporary application of this ancient technique using specialized magnetic cups that create precise, controlled suction on the skin and underlying soft tissue, as well as squishy silicone cups that can glide around the body or be 'parked' in an exact spot during massage.

Unlike the rigid glass cups used in traditional fire cupping, our DragonFire Magnetic cups and our silicone cups allow us to perform sliding and gliding techniques — moving the cups across the skin while maintaining suction — as well as stationary placement for targeted therapeutic work. This gives us far greater precision and flexibility in treating specific areas of tension, pain, and restriction.

The suction created by the cups decompresses the layers of tissue beneath the skin — fascia, muscle, and connective tissue. Where most massage pushes down into the tissue, cupping lifts it upward. This decompressive force is what makes cupping uniquely effective for releasing deep myofascial restrictions, chronic adhesions, and scar tissue that traditional massage cannot fully address.

What to Expect During a Cupping Session

1

Consultation & Assessment

Your practitioner will briefly review your health history, current areas of pain or tension, and your goals for the session. This helps us determine the most appropriate cups and technique.

2

Positioning & Preparation

You'll be comfortably positioned on the massage table, with a sheet for modesty. The areas to be cupped will be exposed. We may apply a light oil or lotion to allow for smooth cup movement.

3

Cup Application

Cups are placed on the skin and suction is created. You will feel a drawing sensation — a gentle pulling of the skin upward. Most clients describe it as unusual but not painful. Cups may be moved (sliding cupping) or left stationary (fixed cupping) depending on the treatment plan.

4

Treatment Time

Cups typically stay in place for 5–15 minutes on each area. During this time, the tissue is being decompressed, circulation is increasing, and the fascia is releasing. Many clients drift into a deeply relaxed state.

5

Post-Treatment Marks

Cupping often leaves temporary circular marks where the cups were placed. These are NOT bruises — they are a sign of increased circulation and the release of metabolic waste. They typically fade within 3–7 days and are generally not painful to the touch.

Who Should Try Cupping?

Cupping therapy is effective for a remarkably wide range of clients. Athletes use it for recovery — many Olympic and professional athletes have made cupping a regular part of their training regimen. People with chronic pain conditions, desk workers with tight shoulders and necks, those recovering from injuries or surgeries, and anyone who has "tried everything" for persistent muscle tension often find that cupping reaches places that traditional massage cannot.

It is particularly beneficial for those with chronic upper back and neck tightness from desk work, IT band syndrome or hip flexor tightness in runners, post-surgical scar tissue and adhesions, chronic low back pain, and restricted shoulder mobility.

Cupping is not recommended for those with active skin conditions in the treatment area, blood clotting disorders, or during pregnancy. When in doubt, call us to discuss whether cupping is appropriate for your situation.

Why Choose Living Health Day Spa for Cupping?

DragonFire Magnetic Cupping at Living Health is performed by practitioners with decades of bodywork experience — not as a trendy add-on, but as a serious therapeutic tool. Cissie Pryor's background as a Registered Nurse and Licensed Massage Therapist gives her a clinical understanding of anatomy and pathology that ensures cupping is applied safely, appropriately, and effectively.

Cupping can be booked as a standalone session or added to any massage appointment — the combination of traditional massage and cupping creates a synergistic therapeutic effect that clients consistently describe as the most effective bodywork they have ever experienced.

DragonFire Magnetic Cupping

Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue.
