Professional Waxing: What Makes the Difference
Hair removal might seem straightforward, but there is a meaningful difference between a rushed, imprecise waxing appointment and a professional session performed by a skilled, experienced practitioner with quality products. At Living Health Day Spa, waxing and threading are performed with the same attention to detail we bring to every service — precision technique, premium professional-grade wax, proper skin preparation, and genuine care for client comfort.
We use professional-grade wax formulated for different hair types and skin sensitivities. Our hard wax formula — ideal for sensitive areas like the bikini line and face — adheres only to the hair and not the surrounding skin, significantly reducing discomfort. Our soft wax, used for larger body areas, is applied thinly and removed cleanly, minimizing breakage and skin irritation.
Threading is offered for eyebrow shaping and facial hair removal. An ancient technique originating in South Asia and the Middle East, threading uses a twisted length of thread to remove individual hairs at the follicle with extraordinary precision. For eyebrow shaping, threading produces a cleaner, more defined edge than waxing or tweezing — and it is the preferred technique for clients with sensitive skin.
Benefits of Regular Waxing
How to Prepare for Your Waxing Appointment
Let hair grow to at least 1/4 inch
Hair must be long enough for the wax to grip. If you have been shaving, stop for 2–3 weeks before your appointment. If you have been waxing regularly, 3–4 weeks is typically sufficient.
Exfoliate the day before (not the day of)
Gentle exfoliation 24 hours before your appointment helps prevent ingrown hairs by removing dead skin cells that can trap newly growing hair. Avoid exfoliating on the day of your appointment as it can make skin more sensitive.
Arrive with clean, product-free skin
Avoid applying lotion, oil, or sunscreen to the area being waxed on the day of your appointment. Clean, dry skin allows the wax to adhere properly.
Avoid sun exposure and retinoids for 24 hours prior
Sunburned or retinoid-sensitized skin is more prone to reactions from waxing. Avoid UV exposure and products containing retinol or retinoids for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
Take an OTC pain reliever if sensitive
If you are sensitive to discomfort, taking an over-the-counter pain reliever (ibuprofen or acetaminophen) 30–45 minutes before your appointment can reduce sensitivity.
